JAMES REID-CUNNINGHAM
BOOKBINDING & CONSERVATION LLC
Artistic bookbinding on: Boccaccio, Minerva, Mantone and Circes, Incline Press, Oldham, U.K. 2013. Bound in 2014.
Minerva, Mantone and Circes was printed letterpress on blue paper in two sections of four bifolios each.
The sections were left untrimmed.
White Tyvek® flyleaves were wrapped around both sections.
The boards were fabricated with 20 pt. map stock and Jade 403 PVA in the same manner as a sewn-boards binding, but with vellum tackets through the fold. The edges of the boards were sanded.
The boards were covered with black Tyvek®.
Holes were cut using a compass cutter to accommodate the inset disks of white Tyvek®. The disks were tooled and titled with 10 pt. Gill Sans using silver foil.
The boards and sections were tacketed to backplates of alum tawed pigskin with vellum tackets.
An obi was constructed using black and white Tyvek®, 4-ply mat board, 10 pt. folder stock, and rare earth magnets.
The lower board was signed and dated.
The binding is housed in a Black Tyvek® box with magnetic closures.
THIS BINDING IS FOR SALE FOR $1200.
