Conservation Rebinding on:
Manuel Moschopulus, Peri Schedon, Paris, 1545.
Received in a badly degraded 19th century rebinding with broken sewing.
Rebound in an Alla Greca style binding,
a structure used in the mid-sixteenth century
for books printed in the Greek language in Paris and Italy.
Textblock disbound, washed and deacidified with calcium hydroxide, all folds guarded and resewn all along on four thin double cords set in V-grooves.
Board edges grooved before the boards were laced on.
Primary figure-8 linen endbands sewn through sections and through holes in the boards.
Secondary double core silk endbands
The endbands extend beyond the edge of the boards.
Covered in full dark red goatskin and tooled in blind and gold.
Signed in gold on the lower pastedown.
